Are you looking forward to your holiday break? Pass the time by enjoying a fun holiday read. Whether you are in a tropical destination or snuggled up in snowy Minnesota (me), there are fun holiday reads to transport you into a different world. Below, you will find seven books that are perfect for this holiday season:
Peace on Earth & Mercy Mild by Nikki Elizabeth
It is a vampire mystery with twists, turns, and laugh-out-loud moments. Follow Mercy, a human-turned-vampire struggling with the shift, but even more so, her attraction to Levi, the vampire who changed her. There are so many funny characters in this book. This author is not only a friend of mine, but also an exceptional writer. Mercy isn’t one of your typical holiday reads, but it definitely keeps you entertained!

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
This dynamic author duo offers a holiday-themed, time-traveling contemporary romance (try saying that three times fast). In a Holidaze follows Mae, a woman searching for happiness, especially amid heartbreak and a continuous time loop. This book was one of my friend’s favorites, so now it’s one of the holiday reads I’m most looking forward to trying. I love these authors; they always bring romance, laughter, and magic!

One Day in December by Josie Silver
Like star-crossed lovers, Laurie sees a man through a bus window, One Day in December and instantly knows he is the one. Their eyes meet, and the spark is magnetic, but the bus drives away. Laurie spends the next year looking for this man, and at this year’s Christmas party, her best friend Sarah tells her she will meet her new boyfriend that night. Meet Jack, Sarah’s new boyfriend and the man Laurie has been searching for…

Still Life by Louise Penny
There’s nothing like a Christmas murder, and that’s what you get with Louise Penny’s first novel in the ultra-famous Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series. This holiday read follows the investigation into Three Pines, a small, picturesque town outside Quebec. The community doesn’t even have its own police, but that changes when Jane Neal, a member of the community, is murdered. Inspector Gamache and his team come to the small town to discover complicated connections, hidden backstories, and some unlikely suspects.

The Christmas Tree Farm by Laurie Gilmore
Christmas hater Kira North really is experiencing karma at its finest – he bought a Christmas tree farm in a town that looks like it should be in a Christmas snow globe. Little does she know that this purchase will be her meeting with Bennett Ellis, who is vacationing in Dream Harbor and becomes trapped on Kira’s farm in a snowstorm. While Kira doesn’t leave the greatest first impression, she invites Bennett to stay at her home until the storm passes. What unfolds is a story about how opposites, one stormy, one sunny, quickly find comfort in each other’s company. This book has the following tropes: opposites attract, small-town vibes, and forced proximity.

The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan
This book reminds me of In Her Shoes because it follows two sisters who dread spending the holidays together. There’s Carmen, a recently unemployed retail worker who doesn’t want to spend time with her family-centric sister, Sofia, whose home is packed with children and is the ideal daughter (in Carmen’s mind). However, when Sofia’s client needs help reviving a dusty old bookshop, Carmen can’t refuse. Centered around Edinburgh, Carmen discovers the bookshop is a diamond in the rough, and some handsome visitors also make the new job worthwhile. What more could you ask for when choosing a holiday read?

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Follow four sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, a group of personalities who support one another no matter the cost. With their father fighting in the war, the March sisters and their mother devise new and inventive ways to support the family. Through young love, heartbreak, life and death, and growing into oneself, Little Women follows all four sisters and their transcendent journey into adulthood.
