Everly Farms is More than Just a Winery
I had heard about the Table at Everly Farms, a winery, a couple of years ago. However, after rediscovering the property, I learned they had expanded it, adding an apple orchard, a playground, and a fantastic restaurant to make it more inviting for all. I added it to my list of places to try this summer, and when the perfect weather came, I knew this was where I wanted to go. Below is my experience at the Table of Everly Farms’ food, staff, ambiance, and clientele.
Lake Side Town, Big Time Food
About 30-40 minutes outside Minneapolis, sits a modern barn-style building with a restaurant, tasting room and more. Surrounded by a vineyard, playground, and gorgeous hilly landscape (a rarity in Minnesota), the Table at Everly Farms sits. I was originally supposed to go with a friend of mine, but she couldn’t make it at the last minute. I was seated, had read the menu 20 times, and was ready to stuff my face with the delicious selection of food.
They were so understanding that I went from a party of two to one, and that I could keep my table – thank God, because I’m short and hate a bar chair.
Okay, enough about me.
What makes The Table at Everly Farms unique?
According to my waitress, the Table’s menu is made entirely from scratch with local ingredients, and many of the dishes change daily depending on what’s freshest. She mentioned they are most known for their pizzas, specifically the Meat pizza with Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, and hot honey glaze. The second, the Spicy Vodka Rigatoni, is like the sister to the Meat pizza, the pasta I made with Italian sausage, peas, and pecorino.
Let me share my recipe for eating alone.
Let me start by saying – I love eating alone. I take myself out to lunch or dinner once a week because it helps me find comfort in my own company. When I go to a new restaurant, I order A LOT, one because I know that a table for one isn’t as financially impactful as a party of two or more. One of the perks is being able to order what you want without having to share, and, as a bonus, there are always leftovers.
What I ordered at The Table at Everly Farms:
Starters or Appetizer:
The people on either side of me ordered the focaccia, which is a different flavor every day, depending on the chef’s choice. Other people tried Caesar salad, which was huge and perfect for a party of two. But what did I have? Welp, if you’ve been here, reading my restaurant reviews, you’ll know I’m quite partial to a Burrata. And this burrata was one of the most beautiful and delicious starters I have ever eaten. The Table at Everly Farms surrounded the ball of cream cheese with thin slices of cucumber, pickled kumquat, and roasted pistachios. Even though the burrata came with a baguette, I could have eaten it without. It was delicious!
Pastas:
When I was at the Table, I had the Ravioli, which was composed of lemon mascarpone, pesto di cavolo nero, and prosciutto. It was light and delicious, but with the burrata, it felt like a comforting meal. Typically, I would have taken a picture, but it was late, and I didn’t have time.
Pizza:
While the Spicy Vodka pizza is what they are most known for, I had to try the Pickle Pizza. Layered with dill ranch, onion, fresh dill, pickles and salt-and-vinegar chips, the pizza was the perfect savory treat. I could only eat a piece, given that I already had burrata and ravioli, but it was a phenomenal leftover, too!
What is the appropriate attire at the Table at Everly Farms?
I would recommend casual. Most people were eating after work and dressed up, while others wore jeans and polo shirts. You can really wear whatever you like; it’s just a matter of what you feel comfortable wearing.
Are portions made for one person?
Most dishes at the Table at Everly Farms are for two people, but like I said, if you are dining alone, they make great leftovers.
Do I need to make a reservation at The Table?
Yes, I would highly recommend making reservations for the restaurant and the tasting room.
What other restaurant recommendations do I have?
If you are looking for a similar vibe, try Diane’s Place or Bûcheron. If you are looking for something more casual, try Benedict’s in Wayzata or Le Burger.
