A Taste of Wayzata’s Charm: Why Benedict’s Restaurant is a Must-Visit

Restaurant Review | Benedict’s – Wayzata, Minnesota

Along the main road in the heart of Wayzata, Minnesota, a town known for its picturesque lakeside views and charming atmosphere, lies a culinary gem that locals and visitors alike have come to adore: Benedict’s restaurant. More than just a place to eat, Benedict’s offers a dining experience that perfectly encapsulates the town’s welcoming and sophisticated vibe. Below you find my restaurant review of Benedict’s restaurant that includes the vibes, the food, and what you can expect from visiting this lakeside restaurant.

The Ambiance: Lakeside Elegance Meets Cozy Comfort

From the moment you step through the doors, you’re greeted with an atmosphere that is friendly, casual and incredibly inviting. Large windows flood the restaurant with natural light, offering views of downtown Wayzata, making it the perfect backdrop for a leisurely brunch. The decor is comfortable and casual with metal chairs and large booths for groups of all sizes.

The Food: A Culinary Journey for the Palate

But the true star of Benedict’s is, of course, the food. The menu is a testament to fresh, high-quality ingredients and a creative approach to classic American cuisine. While their name might suggest a focus on breakfast, and their Benedicts are indeed legendary (the classic is perfect, but don’t shy away from their unique variations!), the menu extends far beyond morning fare.

For breakfast and brunch enthusiasts, the options are endless. Think fluffy pancakes, savory omelets, and a variety of skillets that are as hearty as they are delicious. The lunch and dinner menus are equally impressive, featuring a range of salads, sandwiches, and entrees that cater to every taste. Their burgers are a local favorite, and the fish dishes are always a fresh and flavorful choice.

Nordeaster Eggs Benedict

I had the Nordeaster Benedict, a Northeast take on the classic Eggs Benedict. Built with a crispy English muffin and a poached egg, butter poached lobster with avocado, with Old Bay hollandaise. It was the perfect blend of the classic flavors that make Eggs Benedict delicious, but with a unique, rich taste and texture!

Gravlox Eggs Benedict

I’ve never done this for a blog. I went back today for the blog and tried Benedict’s Gravlox Eggs Benedict, which is made up of cured salmon, spinach, tomato confit, and hollandaise. What’s not to love, am I right? I have to say this is my favorite dish I’ve gotten so far. I love the mixture of thinly shaved hashbrowns with greens and protein. There’s just nothing better in my opinion.

Monkey Bread

The first time I visited, I got the Benedict restaurant’s Monkey Bread. I had a giant square of caramelized bread and cream cheese frosting, and it was the perfect sweet treat to share or partner with a savory Eggs Benedict.

If you’re not a big breakfast fan, they also have salads, sandwiches and other dishes for the non-breakfast lovers.

A Community Staple

What makes Benedict’s truly special is its role as a community hub. It’s the kind of place where you see families celebrating birthdays, friends catching up over coffee, and couples enjoying a quiet evening out. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive, adding to the overall warm and welcoming feeling. They genuinely seem to love what they do, and it shows in the service they provide.

Perfect for Any Occasion

Whether you’re looking for a celebratory brunch, a casual lunch with friends, or a memorable dinner with a view, Benedict’s fits the bill. It’s a place that feels special without being stuffy, and delicious without being overly complicated. It’s a true taste of Wayzata’s charm, served up on a plate.

Next time you find yourself in the Wayzata area, make sure to add Benedict’s Restaurant to your itinerary. Your taste buds will thank you! Looking for other restaurant choices? Check out other staples in Minnesota like GusGus, Le Burger 4304, and another great brunch spot – Diane’s Place!
