My Personal Experience
The first time I went to Owamni, it felt like a dream. My friend and I sat at the bar, interacting with the kind, informative staff. Their attention to detail and care made us feel right at home. I didn’t know what to expect, but as I looked at the menu, I felt right at home, with Wild Rice, Sweet Potatoes and Whitefish—staples in Minnesota. My friend has severe food allergies; she can’t have anything with dairy or gluten, and we were told that their entire menu accommodates her dietary restrictions—they were correct!

Okay, but what about the food?
The flavor profiles at Owamni are We ordered the Sweet Potatoes, sliced in half with Maple Chili Crisp covering the plate, and the Wild Rice. Both felt like you’d imagine it – farm to table and cooked with love. The Wild Rice was sprinkled with berries, and the rice-to-liquid ratio was my jam. The presentation felt shareable and easy to grab and plate. As we were sitting there, we were looking at other people’s plates to see what we wanted for our mains when I tell you, this person walked by with what looked like the perfect meat on the planet. I turned to our waiter behind the counter and said – whatever that is, I want it.
I came, I saw, I conquered Owamni’s signature dish, the Bison Picahna.
I couldn’t believe the smell, the colors, the textures and the stunning plating. The bison was plated like a flower, with its thin slices surrounded by veggies. I took my first bite. I looked up, and the staff looked at me with quiet amusement because they knew this was a meal I would be dreaming about (and I have) for the rest of my life.
