Whether you are visiting Minnesota or a local, the Twin Cities restaurant scene is among the best in the United States. Below, you will find small, hole-in-the-wall restaurants that are staples of the Minnesota experience and famous infusions that bring unique and delicious plates to your Minnesota food experience. Try these Twin Cities restaurants, and let me know what you think!

Staple Twin Cities Restaurants
- Matt’s Bar: The restaurant that created (arguably) the Juicy Lucy, a hamburger patty filled with cheese. You can find a Juicy Lucy throughout the Twin Cities, but this wholesome restaurant is the most renowned for experiencing the Minnesota classic. Try this Twin Cities restaurant, and let me know what you think!
- Spoon and Stable: One of my all-time favorites, Gavin Kaysen’s French-inspired restaurant, has a delicious menu. My favorites are the Bucatini and Bison Tartare with creamy spinach cheese curds. Spoon & Stable has the perfect mix of local produce and global ingredients. The ambiance is second to none, the drinks are great, and the dessert is spectacular! SO GOOD!
- Trevail: Unlike any other restaurant I’ve been to, Trevail is a unique experience for its tasting menu-style cuisines, which bring exceptional culinary techniques, seasonal menus, and local ingredients to the forefront. The top-tier staff is continually changing it’s menu, so every time I’ve visited has been new!
- 112 Eatery: Small but humble, 112 Eatery is in the heart of the North Loop. If you are a foodie, you’ll love how you can stack different dishes. Their French menu has delicious, rich flavors with delicious wine pairings. This warm, inviting environment and kind staff make this restaurant shine and a staple in Twin Cities restaurants.
Something for everyone:
- Alma: The absolute best frites I’ve ever had! There’s a cafe or restaurant option; the latter have unique plates and memorable flavors. Alma’s brunch menu has something for the picky eater and the eccentric trier. The restaurant is a favorite among the locals, and the cafe always has a line out the door on a warm weekend morning.
- Astor Cafe: As an egg’s benedict connoisseur (if I do say so myself), the Astor Cafe’s version is delicious! The Astor Cafe is the ideal option if you are looking for a sandwich, salad, or a great brunch along the Mississippi River. Among many of my friends, this is the place they go for comfort food and delicious drinks.
- Broder’s Pasta Bar: I took my mom here on a whim, and I’m still thinking about their Burrata con Zucca. Broder’s is the perfect place for comfort food and trying new Italian delights.
Infusions
- Porzana: One of the newest restaurants on the scene, Porzana is an Argentinian-style restaurant with great steak, small plates and South American flavors.
- Owmani by the Sioux Chef: I love this restaurant, the first of its kind with flavors connected to the Sioux tribe. I dream about the Bison Picahina—its tender, flavorful experience is second to none. All the shareable small plates and smoothies are also excellent!
- Afro Deli: Full of mouthwatering flavors and unique plates, the Afro Deli is a staple for locals. If you want something other than mainstream American food, try this chain!
- Gorkha’s Palace: Last but not least, I love this woman-owned business. This Minnesota restaurant is delicious and has unique flavors. The chicken momos are unbelievable, the spring rolls are unbelievable, and the tikkas—don’t get me started!
Whether you want to go to popular, tourist Twin Cities restaurants or find unique, worldly dishes, Minnesota has great eateries to try. Let me know if you’ve tried any of these Twin Cities restaurants or if you have suggestions to try!
