Abby Jimenez is one of those authors who gives many readers the unique ability to travel into a different world while making it feel like the characters are your best friends. Her lovable characters, perfectly timed comedy and multi-dimensional storylines make her books romantic comedy favorites among readers everywhere. Here’s why I love Abby Jimenez’s books, quick summaries of her books, and what authors to look forward to next month!
She’s a Minnesota author and bakery owner.
Abby Jimenez is a beloved Minnesota author. Her stories take place in places quintessential to the Minnesota Twin Cities experience. She owns a local favorite, Nadia Cakes, a bakery with various cupcakes, malts, and more–which is mentioned in all of her books.
(My favorites are the banana split, salted caramel, salted nut roll, and tiramisu.)
Abby Jimenez has her own style of contemporary romance.
I don’t know if you have experienced this, but many contemporary romance authors throw all the cliches into one story, making some parts too cheesy and sometimes hard to finish. Not Abby Jimenez’s books; they are original and have you rooting for the female protagonist. Jimenez writes strong, independent, smart female leads who go through real-world issues with just a hint of magic.
Let’s begin with a view of Abby Jimenez’s books.
I like to think of her books as two trilogies: the first is the Friend Zone Trilogy, and the second is the Part of Your World series.
The Friend Zone Trilogy

The Friend Zone
The Friend Zone, Abby’s debut novel, introduces us to the lovable Kristen and her struggle with her feelings for her best friend, who happens to be dealing with a complicated situation of his own. The humor and chemistry between the characters are palpable, making it a joyride from start to finish. With a perfect blend of laughter and emotional depth, this book kicks off Abby’s signature style of mixing relatable dilemmas with romance.

The Happy Ever After Playlist
In The Happy Ever After Playlist, we meet Sloane, still grappling with grief and unexpected love. When she finds a lost dog, she crosses paths with the dog’s owner, Jason, a musician with a heart of gold. The banter between these two is a highlight, and who doesn’t love a good romance that blossoms out of an adorable canine meet-cute? This book beautifully balances humor and heartfelt moments, capturing the complexities of moving on and finding love again.

Life’s Too Short
This one follows the vibrant and unapologetically spirited Vanessa, who believes in making the most of her time on earth. When her charming new neighbor, a serious and pragmatic man named Adrian, enters her life, sparks fly in the most unexpected ways. Life’s Too Short is about adventure, personal growth, and the magic of living in the moment.
Part of Your World Trilogy

Part of Your World
In “Part of Your World,” we join the fiercely independent Alexis, who feels torn between her urban life and the pull of her small-town roots. Enter Daniel, a local with a warm smile and a surprising depth. This love story beautifully captures the tension between aspiration and love, leaving us rooting for these characters to find their way to each other. The quirky side characters and witty dialogue have you laughing while subtly tugging at your heartstrings.
I love reading her books on vacation, and I read this one when I was on Hilton Head Island. I laughed out loud and enjoyed the hilarity of this meet-cute.

Yours Truly
Yours Truly brings us a fresh perspective on love, healing, and second chances. In this heartfelt story, we follow the intertwining lives of hospital staff members, diving deep into their personal and professional struggles. Their relationships’ complexities are relatable and amusing, and this is my favorite story she’s written.

Just for the Summer
Two people, Emma and Justin, are plagued with the same curse; the moment they break up with someone, their past partners fall in love with their soulmates. What happens when they form a relationship and “catch feelings” for one another? Does it cancel out this curse or prove they are the perfect match?

However, Samantha has been hiding a little secret; she’s leaving tomorrow and never returning to Minnesota. When Xavier hears the news, he knows one thing: no amount of distance is going to keep them apart.
The handsome veterinarian quickly becomes a member of Samantha’s family things become more complicated. However, one thing is for certain – they will do anything to make this relationship work, no matter the cost.
New Short Story!

The Fall Risk
Two neighbors, Seth and Charlotte, have never met each other in their quiet, urban apartment complex. When they find out that their stairs have been demolished and are landlocked on their level, they quickly try to make fun of the situation, and in Abby Jimenez’s fashion, instant sparks fly, and romantic comedy ensues. With several other hilarious characters interwoven into this story, I found this community a real treat to read.
Trigger warning: This story has a stalker, which can trigger some, so please read the description before downloading this book.
This is a short story, and only in eBook, so if you have Amazon Prime, it’s free, but if not, you can also listen to the short story through audio.

Should you read the books in order?
While it’s not necessary, I like to read her books in order because the connections between characters make more sense.
