8 Essential Desk Accessories to Boost Productivity and Style

To know me is to know that I love organization, especially office supplies and tools to make everyday work life better. Whether stocking up for school, an at-home desk, or a cubicle can make your work environment fun and inviting. The desk accessories below are fun ways I’ve matched my style and personality to my work area.

Here are eight desk accessories that have made my desk sparkle and bring me joy:

  1. A desk plant: Yes, I have a green thumb, but you don’t need one with these almost impossible-to-kill office plants. Try a snake plant or mother tongue if you are in the center of cubicle land with little sunlight. If you are one of the lucky ones with natural sunlight, consider a succulent or cactus; bonus, you get to buy a fun pot, too. Desk plants are also air purifiers, so add a desk plant to help enhance your work area and overall air quality!
  2. Desk mat: I drag my computer mouse anywhere and everywhere on my multiple screens, and adding a desk mat has made my excessive mouse dragging so much smoother! I’d recommend buying one that’s not wipeable—don’t make my mistake and try this one.
  3. Cord and cable organizers: Nothing is worse than walking by your desk, tripping on a rogue cord, or sitting down and trying to plug a device into the charger, only to find the charge behind the desk on the floor, and you have to snake it back up. Add cord organizers to your basket; they are super affordable, and there are fun, colorful options to keep those pesky cords in place.
  4. Lighting: There’s always room for the cute lamp on your desk, but in Minnesota, when it’s dark until 8:30 a.m. and the sun goes down at 4:00 on the shortest day of the year, I cannot live without my Happy Light. It’s like a vitamin D top-up and a way to make it look like a ring light, but medical, you know?
  5. Calendar/Planner: As a lefty, spiral notebooksplanners or calendars are always welcome! Having a planner that allows quick notes, last-minute tasks and more to be easily accessible and the best part – you can check those things off! I love a planner with a calendar view in months and weeks and a section allowing me to build a checklist.
  6. Desk organizers: If you are searching for the best writing pen, pencil, or highlighter, you need a desk organizer. My favorite is the Youbetia 360-Degree Rotate Pencil Holder. This organizer keeps all the random pens and pencils in one place, which also taught me that I must stop buying writing utensils.
  7. Ergonomic desk appliances: The best purchase I have ever made was a standing desk. I bought one from BeStar, which has changed my work environment, but there are also plenty of other (more affordable) options. Some phenomenal keyboards and mice are other ways to avoid putting stress on your joints.
  8. Additional Desk Accessories: You have to have something fun, whether it be fun picture frames, a funky calculator or a funky stress ball, add some fun and personality to your work environment. Some fun calculators, keyboards and more have fun ASMR-friendly bubble keys.

The right desk accessories can transform your workspace into a hub of productivity and creativity. Investing in thoughtful organizers, ergonomic tools, and personal touches creates an environment that enhances efficiency and reflects your unique style. Whether working from home or in an office, curating your desk can lead to a more enjoyable and fulfilling work experience. So revamp your space, and watch how adding desk accessories can make a big difference in your daily routine!
