Unlock Your Ultimate Adventure: 10 Essential Travel Accessories You Can’t Leave Without

Having been to over 12 countries, I’ve made some edits to what I bring to travel, especially when it comes to travel accessories that make travel so much easier. These travel accessories range from packing cubes to clothing, tech gadgets, and more to make bebopping from place to place 1-2-3 go! Below is a range of travel items I bring to make travel easier.

Pre-Travel Accessories:

  1. Packing Cubes: This is probably already a given, but it’s true—packing cubes save room in your suitcase. You don’t have to buy the $120 version. I’ve had mine for eight years, and they are still going strong. They’re helpful when planning outfits and alleviate the stress of fitting enough clothes into your luggage.
  2. Cosmetic Bags: As someone who needs to pack everything and the kitchen sink, meaning medications, lotions, my shampoo, exfoliating mit, etc., it’s critical to see what’s packed without having to open everything. I bought a pack of three cosmetic bags, large to small – the largest holds everyday items like toiletries, hair tools, and dermatology products. The medium holds cosmetics, tweezers, and other items. The smallest, the most important, is perfect to hold your medications or carry-on items you can’t live without.
  3. Laundry Bag: Whether you are on a weekend adventure or a weeks-long international stay, having a place to put dirty clothes to keep the rest of your clothes clean is the ultimate travel accessory. There are two types of laundry bags: a bag for different types of clothing and one big laundry bag. Both are great, but remember how you do your laundry when you get home to make it easy to drop it in the wash and go.
  4. Luggage Tags: Something I can’t live without – luggage tags are the ultimate travel accessory for differentiating my luggage from everything else. The bolder, the better!

Travel Accessories during the trip:

  1. International Travel Adopter: An essential when traveling to different countries, finding an adapter with different types of plug-ins is a must-have travel accessory.
  2. Scarf-Blanket: Back in 2016, I embarked on my first international trip, and I was so nervous I wouldn’t pack the right clothes. How do I make sure I’m covered? A scarf blanket from Athleta is the best purchase I’ve made. I don’t believe they make them anymore, but several other companies, like Nordstrom, J.Crew, and other clothing stores, have several options.
  3. An extra bag: When traveling for a prolonged time, you may be able to purchase souvenirs from different places. If you think your luggage is on the brink of being too full, pack a collapsable bag and take it out when you think it’s time to split up your things. My favorite is the Vera Bradley; they have a great weekend bag that has been my go-to since 2015.
  4. Reusable Bag: It is always a good idea to bring a reusable bag. If you go shopping in Europe, you will be charged for using a plastic bag.
  5. Shoe bag: Like packing cubes, having show bags is a great travel accessory if you get your shoes wet, muddy, or smelly.
  6. Travel Diary: Pack a notebook, diary, whatever you can write on to write down memories for your trip. Even if it’s a bulleted list of the places you’ve visited, it’s a great way to return to what you’ve done after the trip.
